Dear San Miguel family,
Because of you, we are breaking down the obstacles. Join us on our BACK TO SCHOOL CAMPAIGN as we now have 100 new freshmen bringing us to 350 students overall who will earn roughly 40 percent of the cost to educate them. It is our responsibility to cover the rest. Every student receives scholarship support, and every family pays whatever they can afford for tuition. And that is the challenge—making up the difference. Will you consider making a gift today to help bridge this gap? You can do so online on our new user friendly giving portal.
Last spring, we celebrated our 11th graduating class of 65 seniors at a 100% graduation rate. Even better, every single student was accepted to a two- or four-year college or university and now ready to start this fall semester.
We also celebrated our San Miguel alumni college graduates at universities such as Georgetown, St. Mary's of Minnesota, NAU and of course our good ol' U of A. We cheered for those who are now teachers, engineers, counselors, dental technicians, or are working towards graduate degrees. We were even smart enough to hire one to work as a math teacher bringing us to now five alumni who work at San Miguel and giving back to their community. Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve... only they came back to serve.
Because of you, this is all possible.
“Thank you, San Miguel supporters. If it wasn’t for you none of us would be here –the school wouldn’t be here. I don’t know where I would be without you guys. You have changed my life, and you have changed many lives here at San Miguel.” Christian, San Miguel student
What makes San Miguel the “school that works” is the Tucson community who says, “We believe in what you’re doing. We believe in the future of your students.”
- On average our freshman are starting out academically behind by almost two grade levels.
- The average family income for these incoming students is just under $35,500 for a family of four.
- Over the four years of high school, we prepare them for college, career and life.
Education and career preparation have a life-changing impact on our students and our community. Many of our students face tremendous obstacles to success, growing up in neighborhoods plagued with violence, drugs, gangs, poverty and a few of our students are even homeless. But from day one, students know we have the expectation that they will succeed for themselves and for our beautiful Tucson.
We look forward to meeting with you and I invite you to the campus for a tour to see what's new! Looking forward to meeting you!
P.S. Can you make your gift today? San Miguel still needs to raise over $90,000 to fund scholarships for this school year. I am counting on your support. Please don’t wait.
