Last week San Miguel students celebrated their diverse roots with the Annual Heritage Festival, which included information, dance performances and foods from thirteen countries around the world. It was a full house and every attendee casted their vote for the best presentation. Congrats to Indonesia, Puerto Rico and Argentina for receiving first, second and third places respectively. Thank you to the Spanish Department and the National Hispanic Honor Society for putting on a great community event!
San Miguel is excited to announce its newest afterschool program - the Tinkerbotics Club! The Tinkerbotics Club aims to promote creativity, programming, problem solving and critical thinking through robotics. There are already over 30 active members that are working on rolling robots. Throughout the school year, the students will be competing in world competitions!
Last week our principal, Mr. Valenzuela, delivered handwritten notes of encouragement and a check from the money raised by San Miguel students to Aimee Wiles, the principal of Cristo Rey Baton Rouge High School. Just a few weeks after the opening of the newest school in the Cristo Rey Network, the August rains that flooded parts of Louisiana flooded Cristo Rey Baton Rouge’s campus.
San Miguel High School is proud to be the only Lasallian school in Arizona! Last week students celebrated our five core principles which are: Respect for All Persons, Faith in the Presence of God, Concern for the Poor and Social Justice, Inclusive Community and Quality Education. Students started off the week with a prayer service focusing on Quality Education.
